Raku Shell |
The shell is thrown on a potter's wheel and then altered. It has a clear crackle glaze on it, and is fired to approximately 1800°F (982°C). While orange hot it is removed from the kiln with metal tongs. It is placed into a metal can containing leaves or paper. As the glaze rapidly cools , it tends to crackle, and the smoke will fill the crackle. Orders taken if this one is sold. Though no two pieces will fire out exactly the same, this glaze is very similar from firing to firing. |
