Raku Jar |
This jar has four different glazes handpainted on it. It is part of "the Sun Moon Series" which was originally inspired by an eclipse. It is fired to approximately 1800°F (982°C), removed while orange hot from the kiln with metal tongs, and placed in a metal container. The paper in the container bursts into flame and is then covered causing it to smoke strongly. As the glaze cools rapidly, it tends to crackle, and the smoke will fill the crackle as well as smoke blacken the porous clay pot. All Raku pieces are porous and may sweat, do not put liquids in this piece.
Orders taken if this one is sold. Though no two pieces will fire out exactly the same, this glaze is very similar from firing to firing. |
